Mark 10:46-52 Outline

Faith
Is seeing really believing ??!

1. Having spiritual eyes
Jesus of Nazareth - Son of David
What should we do with spiritual blindness? For ourselves and others?

2. Continuing to follow with spiritual eyes
Why are we tempted to want a popular Jesus rather than Jesus going to the cross?
How are you at continuing to follow Jesus? through ups and downs, through covid?

Ephesians 1:18, ‘I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and incomparable great power for us who believe.’

Mission statements
Have a go at working out who has these mission statements…..
'We make what matters better, together.’
‘Is to make aspirational quality accessible to everyone, through the depth and range of its products.’
‘To accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.’
‘To enable people and business throughout the world to realise their full potential.’
‘If you have a body, you are an athlete.’
‘To organise the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.’
‘The ? exists to serve the public, and its mission is to inform, educate and entertain.’
‘To know Christ and make him known.’
  • What might be your mission statement?

1. Jesus mission v32-34
8:31, 9:31

2. Disciples mission v35-40
Are you grateful that God has not answered all your prayers your way?!
Cup - Psalm 75, Isaiah 45
Baptism - Psalm 69, Isaiah 43

3. Jesus mission restates for us all v41-45
Jesus mission is to go to the cross for you.
Where is true glory and authority found?
In Jesus completing his mission, what does that mean for you?

Setting
8:31, 8:34, 9:31

1. False following v17
What might Jesus spot in us that is false about our following of him?

2. A faithful King v18-22

How different is my understanding of keeping the 10 commandments different from Jesus understanding?

For the man in the passage wealth was his issue, what might be your issue that gets in the way of Jesus being Lord of everything?

 3. Freedom miracle v23-31
If we are finding it hard to give up something like this rich young man, who should we go to for help? What can we expect according to v27?

If we give up everything to follow Jesus what two additional things can we expect back in v30?

How are you being taught by Jesus to trust him like a child?
