GREEN - "Helper" in Gen 2:18 does not mean that the woman is less in value or ability. Don't forget - God is called a helper (Ps 115:9-11). This is a short book about how the Bible offers a liberating message for all women. GREEN - "Christians believe that the gospel is good news for all people and for all time. But since the narratives of our contemporary culture don’t always echo a biblical worldview, the church needs to be clear about how the gospel challenges and transforms human experience – including in our relationships and sexuality. The Beautiful Story is a 30 minute film that explains how a biblical vision for human sexuality is good for individuals, the church and society as a whole. It is intended to galvanise and support discussion in local churches around sexuality and relationships and to provide the case for what many call a traditional Christian viewpoint. It has been made by the Church of England Evangelical Council (founded by John Stott and others) – a network of networks that connects the majority of evangelicals in the Church of England. The contributors include bishops, clergy and well known lay leaders – all of whom recognise that the church has not always got things right in the area of relationships and sexuality and who share in this film both from their personal experience and from their biblical convictions." (The video's blurb) RED - want to know more about the two trees in the Garden of Eden? Or why there's so much life-giving water? Check out these videos. When God says that humans are made "from the dust of the ground" (Gen 2:7), every human, from womb to tomb, needs God to sustain them. But believing this can be hard! Here are a few books I've found helpful to understand the goodness of our physical and mental limitations.
GREEN - Sam Allberry has written a simple and clear summary about what God has to say about our bodies. BLUE - similar themes, but a bit denser in places. Allison's book includes some excellent questions for personal reflection. PURPLE - Kelly Kapic's latest book is a gift. Lots of rich and real theology for life. Read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest! GREEN - Is the Sabbath still relevant? Here's a very short yet provocative blog post. RED - This is the great new song we've been learning, "Creator God."
PURPLE - Were Adam and Eve historical figures? If so, in what sense? Does it even matter? Here's a 2021 symposium about these questions. Warning: It's pretty dense stuff, but v rewarding. Do chat with Sam more if this is of interest to you.
GREEN - The Bible Project is an excellent resource for lots of short videos on all sorts of Bible stuff. Enjoy! RED - an absolutely banging tune from Dumbrocks. See how many reasons you can spot for trusting God. Here's the grid we looked at on Sunday. God FORMS creation - to FILL creation - for FRUITFULNESS and FLOURISHING. Hooray!! BLUE - The Biologos website has some really good stuff to read and listen to about how SCIENCE and CREATION complement each other (rather than conflict). One need not be persuaded of absolutely everything on the website, but it is measured, sensible, and though provoking. https://biologos.org/ PURPLE - here's an older blog post on why the separation of night and day do not justify gender fluidity - https://www.latimertrust.org/post/in-between-male-and-female
