We held a Christmas Craft Fair for families to attend and make various Christmas themed crafts and to hear a little bit about the true meaning of Christmas.
As an alternative to Halloween we held a Light Party for families to attend and play light themed games as well as an opportunity to hear about Jesus, the Light of the World.
A huge thank you to everyone (both human and canine) that attended the dog show! We had a fabulous afternoon with lots and lots of winners! And a special thank you to Wood Street Veterinary Hospital who provided us with our judge. Tuesday 23 March 2021, one year since the first lockdown. There is hope on the horizon, but many have experienced loss and challenges over this past year in the historical context of a pandemic never seen before in a generation. St Paul’s Church, Hadley Wood desires to support you, your family and community at this time by marking the ‘National Day of Reflection’ coordinated by the charity Marie Curie and supported by the Church of England, designated a special day to reflect on collective loss and grief. We mark this through the reading out of the name of the friends, family and residents of Hadley Wood that have been lost over the past year. Then we invite you to join us in a minute of silence at 12 noon to remember and reflect. Then the following poems will be read out 'Gone From My Sight' by Henry Van Dyke and 'The Years BC: Before Covid' by Pamela Liseter, followed by a prayer and blessing. Finally the Prayer of Saint Francis, put to music by Sebastian Temple will be sung by a member of our congregation. Black Lives Matter has raised a number of issues within our communities and in response St Paul’s Church, Hadley Wood held an event on Sunday 27 September 2020 to help us be a more inclusive and diverse church family. Samuel Jnr and Samuel Snr Okoronkwo shared their experience and reflections that effected them. John Hall introduced the danger of conscious and unconscious bias and Kirsty Birkett took us through some biblical principles of inclusion and diversity of being in Christ Jesus. You are most welcome to view the YouTube presentation.
