What a great day we had - lots to think about and act on.
First a stunning sermon in the morning "God's not fair" cries Jonah
Do we really want God to forgive our enemies? How can it be fair that these evil people can be forgiven?
If you missed it, go and read the book of Jonah again - just 4 chapters and we tend to only remember the first three. Look at chapter 4!
Then the evening event - The Refugee Crisis
A Christian Response
The world is in a mess - why? Mark 7:20 "“What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
The migrant problem is one symptom of this problem.
The solution is to change people's nature - we can't do that - but God can
Ask people why they think the world is in such a mess - maybe you'll get a chance to tell them about God's solution - Jesus.
And remember God is in control - there is a plan being worked out even if we can't understand it all.
A Personal Response
"Better to do something than nothing"
Identify with people in need. Grace is what defines us. God gives and gives and gives and gives...
Love your (Christian) family and love your neighbour (i.e. anyone).
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.” Luke 10:27
